"How about this as a possible explanation -- people are tired of thinking they own something of value and then waking up and finding out it is worthless -- they want something that does not evaporate while they are sleeping at night. " This explanation flies. I suppose I was implying buying retail jewelry is not the way to invest. However, one can wear their "investment."
