Blowback my @ss!!... Especially since every Arab state in the region has its own ministry of "culture", or "information", or like Iran, a Ministry of "Guidance and Propaganda" acting as "thought police", both internally as well as internationally, just maybe it might be that the problem is not "blowback" but that they have few qualms about engaging in the kind of activities that the rest of the world perceives as somehow "unamerican"..

Odds are that that because there are few US "infomercials" running in the mid-east presenting the US POV (outside of VOA and USIA), that void is something Arab and Persian propaganda entities can exploit to their own advantage.

But at least you got one thing right... The odds are that the "office of strategic influence" was deliberately created as a sacrificial goat, covering the establishment of some other more ambiguously named agency which will carry out that function.
