Mobile phone operators are scrambling to release a new combined service linking wired service with wireless service. A typical form would be bringing the existing online services such as community, communication and remote controling services to the wireless Internet. Operators expect that this kind of combined services would become popular among users with 90 percent penetration rate for cdma2000 1X and commercialized EVDO service.

Especially, they are pushing hard for combining the two forms of service not to be defeated by wired service operators with the door for wireless Internet networks getting open.

SK Telecom that released its combined service NATE is preparing for more upgraded service this year. The company is running a quick-mail service where users can send and receive online e-mails of Daum, Lycos, Yahoo and Dreamwiz via their mobile phones.

It is also providing NATE My PC service where users can operate online e-mail programs and open attached document files by logging on to the Internet via their mobile phones.

The company is also running a service where users can check out their ranks and various game information through the wireless Internet, and NATE Photo service where users can transmit photographs using their mobile phones.

KTF is providing a mail-check and chatting service for users. Users can log on to such chatting sites as Skyclub and Sayclub through the wireless Internet. The company also provides a community linking service combining such communities as Daum cafe,

Damoim and MagicN and customized stock service. LG Telecom provides various services including e-mail and remote controling service. Among other services, its Wise integrating mail service through which users can check out their e-mails from 14 different Web sites including Hotmail and Hanmail and Easybox service through which users can manage their voice, fax and mails at one time are especially being received well by customers.

Additionally, it is providing a chatting service where users can integrate different services including MSN, Yahoo and ICQ regardless of different types of mobile phones and PC users.

An official from one of mobile communications service operators said, "The wireless Internet would become customized towards the existing wired service users, and operators would release various services to meet these new demands. And, they are highly likely to use this chance to expand into other businesses."
