Ariba's sourcing software was launched in the fourth quarter of last year and is part of the company's suite of software and services that equip purchasing managers to make cost-efficient decisions. Ariba's top financial executive said at the Robertson Stephens Technology Conference in San Francisco that its sourcing product has opened the door to new customers.

Defense giant General Dynamics (GD: news, chart, profile) had tested Ariba's sourcing software in eight trials and saved an average of 16 percent for all goods purchased. General Dynamics has since signed up as a customer, said CFO Ariba Jim Frankola.

Ariba (ARBA: news, chart, profile) has seven different software products within its suite of offerings.

Additionally, the company said that total deferred revenue should stabilize this quarter. Deferred revenue, which is the practice of booking future sales that are not yet recognized on the company's income statement, had declined over the last three quarters.
