EBay sees $1 billion in 2005 cash flow

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- EBay expects to generate operating cash flow in excess of $1 billion in 2005, said CFO Rajiv Dutta.

Showcasing EBay's (EBAY: news, chart, profile) scalable business model, he said the company expects to spend $85 million to $100 million in total capital expenditures in 2002.

This suggests that the online auctioneer can achieve significant cash flow with each option because of its low technology costs. By comparison, many companies are not able to generate cash flow because their cash flow expenditures are significantly high.

Dutta said that the international operations in Canada and Germany are profitable but the U.K., Ireland and New Zealand are expected to reach profitability next year.
