Good Morning, August,

After everything that went on yesterday, I wasn't too sure we'd be seeing you around this early in the morning. (o:

Actually, when I get busy on a project, especially something really exciting, I often go for a few days with just a little sleep. At some point I play catch-up once things slow down a little.

I can just imagine ME trying to resist not peeping into my kiln for 2 or 3 days... oh yeah...right... hee hee...

Hey, like I said, it's been fun and exciting to come along for the ride on this whole little odyssey. As for the end result when you open the kiln up, I suspect they'll be just fine, but regardless of how things turn out, as you know, I'm a great believer in the importance of the *creative process*... that in some ways, especially for the artist, the process is almost more important than the end result. I often think this when I see earthworks by artists who know that the finished piece is entirely ephemeral and will disappear soon.. uhm.. lemme see if I can find a good example.. Ever seen James Denevan's sand paintings?:

Well, you would be most welcome to come up for a visit any old time -- to build a kiln or just to visit and go tripping around in my canoe...whatever. Coming up here to help me build a kiln sounds...well...amazing..but probably waay beyond the call of duty.. but heck, it might be pretty darned cool too. Anyhow, something to think about and maybe do! In any case, all of this talk about firing stuff has got me re-interested in the idea of working with clay again.. probably not to spin pots as I know that that's something that probably takes more concentration and skill than I could muster up these days and I was always more into handbuilt objects more than turned, but it would be neat to be able to build things like clay masks, sculptures, wallhangings...textural objects... That's where my interest seems to be wandering these days. I'll just keep on collecting the beautiful pots, bowls and water-trays that my potter friends spin and I can just concentrate on exploring my own eccentric imaginings. <gg>

Anyhow, been FUN to participate in this project so far, and let me just say that I am *truly* impressed with what you've accomplished in just a little over a month despite the normal distractions of everyday life. (o:
