Xybernaut's MA V to be Used for Attendee Registration, Roving Research Activities and Data Gathering During COMDEX Chicago
FAIRFAX, Va. & LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 27, 2002-- Key3Media Group, Inc. (NYSE: KME - news) and Xybernaut Corporation (Nasdaq: XYBR - news) announced today that wearable computers will be employed for ``queue-busting'' at this year's COMDEX Chicago being held next week (March 4-7) in Chicago.
COMDEX Chicago event staff will use Xybernaut's Mobile Assistant® V (MA V®) wearable computer for a variety of ``queue busting'' (reducing long lines) applications at COMDEX Chicago, including attendee registration, roving research on the show floor, on-site coordination, and various other types of data gathering among attendees, exhibitors and presenters. The MA V wearable computers will replace a number of stationary kiosks that were previously used for similar purposes.
``The use of the MA V at COMDEX Chicago exemplifies the applicability of wearable computing in mainstream business situations,'' stated JB Rauch, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Xybernaut. ``This innovative use of wearable computing will be featured as one of many live demonstrations during the 7th annual International Conference on Wearable Computing (ICWC).''
ICWC is being held this year as a featured conference during COMDEX Chicago. The COMDEX Chicago/ICWC events will be held March 4-7 at the McCormick Place conference facility located at 2301 S. Lake Shore Drive in downtown Chicago. This is the first year Xybernaut has held the ICWC during COMDEX Chicago.
Highlights of this year's ICWC will include the queue busting demonstration and the unveiling of XyberKids(TM) -- a new wearable computer platform for the education market. ICWC will also contain interactive workshops, panel discussions and presentations by corporate, government and education leaders including IBM, Hilton, Bell Canada, GE, Federal Express, International Truck and many others. The Chairman of President George W. Bush's Commission On Anti-Terrorism will discuss ``How Technologies Such as Wearable Computing Can Help Fight Terrorism and Boost The Economy.'' The ICWC will also feature on-going exhibits and demos in a special Wearable Computing Pavilion.
``With its emphasis on eMobility, COMDEX Chicago represents an excellent opportunity for exhibitors and attendees to understand that wearable computing and related technologies are here today and being employed in various innovative applications,'' said Bob Bierman, vice president and general manager, COMDEX Chicago. ``As we have incorporated the MA V as a tool for many of our critical business functions, we realize that we have only scratched the surface. Wearable computing can be used much more widely to make our professionals more efficient and effective on a daily basis.''
