and further, our finance industry is just a self serving means of wealth accumulation completely out of whack with any underlying substance but for the confidence game.

In Bernstein's gold book, there's a quote by a Spaniard - "So much silver and money has always been poison to republics and cities...They believe money will keep them and it is not true: plowed fields, pastures, and fisheries are what gives us sustenance"

so switch those things above to what , automobiles, pc's, routers? big deal, koreans can do all that. Sure we will come up with the "next generation" this and that in many tech fields, but so what? someone has to still be willing to pay for it, because the US IS NOT paying for it except for what we PRINT. When the day comes that this dawns on everyone it will be too late. I'm not saying it will happen soon.
