George HW Bush was shot down in the Pacific theater. I am sure that his son knows that we fought the Japanese in World War II.

That's the great irony. I'm sure he knows a lot about WWII. He probably knows that Caeser was a Roman and that Columbus discovered America. What he doesn't seem to have is a grasp on how all these things fit together. They are a bunch of isolated facts that he couldn't be bothered with before.
