Lol. I hear you. However, that's what this thread's all about, isn't it? Hiring someone else to do the hard lifting of the due diligence, while you get to eat plums with your wife and kids. :) Tom and I believe that you should be a Director on the Board of your portfolio, but you should have a CEO (read financial planner and related company's research arm) to do all the hard work for you. I think we're probably all smart enough to check up on our planner's to make sure they aren't doing anything risky or stupid. So I think we shouldn't abdicate all responsibility and let a financial planner have a carte blanche, but we can gain considerable freedom, time, and discipline by hiring one...and we can stay in the market to maximize our returns.
