The Prescott desktop processor...will include Hyper-Threading technology

Intel Outlines Progress Of Several Intiatives

SAN FRANCISCO -(Dow Jones)- Intel Corp. (NasdaqNM: INTC - news) (INTC) plans to unveil several products for users of desktop computers, mobile PCs and wireless computing devices beginning in 2003.

In a press release Wednesday, Intel said the products include Prescott, Intel's next generation desktop processor, and "M," the mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor.

The Prescott desktop processor, based on Intel's NetBurst microarchitecture, will include Hyper-Threading technology, an Intel technology that allows operating systems to view a single physical processor as if it were two.

"M," Intel's Pentium 4 Processor includes mobile -specific features such as Enhanced SpeedStep technology, "Deeper Sleep" for low power state and small mobile packaging for thinner, lighter mobile PCs.

Intel also said it has a 3G communications processor test chip in its labs and will be unveiling a 2.5G version based on the "Wireless Internet on a Chip" technology later this year.
