Nice article. Who is Charles Paul Freund? Have I seen that name somewhere else?

However, I will never understand why it's necessary to wrap a nice article in a whining attack on "liberals." Why not just write the essay. It's successful, interesting, well done, etc. but then he lets himself get bogged down in attacks on Hillary Clinton, Daniel Bell, and Benjamin Barber.

There are enough things wrong with Bell's book to need nothing new such his lack of appreciation for the "stilyagi" (wonderful word). As for Benjamin Barber, I keep meaning to read the McWorld book. But I've not been a fan of his earlier work--I agree with the political thrust but he is, like too many of us academics, far too over preachy for far too many pages.
