I am, by the way, not taking sides.

A wise course, Neo, IMO. No one will ever know the whole truth here, inasmuch as much of the evidence apparently lies in PMs, venues other than SI, and distant history. Anyway, the issues have now been overwhelmed by a "Who gets the last word" contest.

I predict that the last word will be had by the last-standing direct participant, as all others will have long been driven away.
