Settled against intel? what are you talking about? Intel settled the case as part of the acquisition of Digital's semiconductor operations. From that acquisition, Intel got its network processors and StrongARM, plus some fab facilities and assorted other chips. It led to most of the Alpha team going to Compaq and subsequently ended up coming to work for Intel.

I think the whole suit was a clever way for Robert Palmer, then head of DEC to sell off the company in big parts. Worked out pretty well for Intel, in the long run.

So do you still think this was settled "against" intel?
