I see your point with the scrap dealers and agree with it.

I like both of your definitions of innocent. 1) never committed a sin. 2) not guilty of the charge against them.

Murder: Unjust killing. Accidents are not unjust killings. Killing someone in self defense is not unjust killing. Killing some one convicted of a capital crime is more complex. It is my view that there are certain crimes that we as a society have no equitable way to deal with. Incarceration being our most severe form of justice short of the death penalty, simply does not rectify some crimes. Death to the perpetrator resolves all issues. I don't view it as a deterant, a punishment, or revenge even though some or all of these effects may be felt by stake holders. I see it simply as final resolution to the perpetrator of a crime that has no other fair solution. On the other hand I do not feel that we have gone far enough in our requirements for evidence that establishes proof beyond the shadow of doubt for capital offenses.
