The UK consumer still prefers 18k gold while in the USA 14k is the norm. As you well know anything over 18k is considered to be too soft for jewelry. Btw I personally like white gold because it doesn't attract other peoples attention. That's why I wear an 18k white gold Rolex watch. I also don't wear earrings or have a stud in my tongue.
