After we won, Hundreds of thousands of people went out on the streets in Toronto ... and thousands did likewise across the country.. and were still partying past midnight.. on a SUNDAY night with work the next day. Picture a city winning a World Series in baseball and applying that to every city and town in Canada.. it was awesome.. I was proud to be a Canadian. It was nice to see that we as a nation, known for its reserved and quiet behaviour, can also on occasion, rise up and be as patriotic as its southern neighbour. Scott, I have to agree but what was even more impressive was the way Sale and Pelletier dealt with all the problems re their win. Talk about showing grace under pressure.I can't tell you what a positive image it projected for Canada. Canada is a small country in a very big land and a lot of people don't know much about it........for many, Canada's image is one of snow and igloos and polar bears. So anything other than those three things really stands out. Sale and Pelletier ended up epitomizing the qualities of a true athlete.....into their sport, giving it their best, and showing no attitude even when it looked like they were being screwed. Because of their professionalism and talent, I suspect they will make a ton of money in addition to having left a great image of its like to be a Canadian. I know how big hockey is in Canada and how much they like their hockey teams........I am originally from right over the border [Minnesota]...well I still am right over the border. ;~)) But nonetheless, if I were a Canadian I would be equally proud of Sale and Pelletier. And didn't Canada come in third in the overall medal totals? ted
