If i was somebody like IBM I would buy a redhat (or linux VA)and create an entirely new alternative to windows...(call it reddog) Id'e add the scripting languages. Have a built in apache server called something else ..(pronounced 'a patch ee'). For an extra 100 grand i'de offer AVR studio training with custom chip development for the Geek who doesn't know what to do with himself. Give you free Oracle server with licenses and (offsite) server maintenance support. Teach you to Samba.. It's a geeks world out there. the geeks don't listen to microsoft. the only thing that has kept windows in front of you is the faster and faster chip development from the intels. I swear linux runs just as well on a pentium 166 as windows2000 professional runs on a 1.5 GIG whatever. (well that and the stock sales by insiders) I think this market gets more and more fragemented... I think MSFT will eventually spring leaks like a leaky ship..
