I can understand that... because for you, "spoiled Yanks", "Muslim" is an abstract notion --like "communism" or "buddhism"... just another "-ism"-- whereas for us, in Europe, it means flesh-and-blood people, we can put a face on those words (Islam, Muslim, Arab,...)
I guess that's also why anti-Americanism is so common in Europe: for most Europeans, America and Americans are abstract, disembodied words. Europeans think that Sylvester Stallone (Rambo), John Wayne, and Madonna epitomize the American people.... while all African Americans rot in jail and the Jews pull the strings of the whole boodle (just don't ask them why Gore & Lieberman lost the last Pres. election)
