A lot of a child's time is spent brooding, day dreaming, playacting, and quietly observing what others do. Add in books and television and films, and there is a whole process of clarifying for his or her self the way society works and how to make things go better. Thus, it not only the time spent being "on" that counts, but the time to learn from experience, to lick one's wounds, to hide out from scrutiny. Additionally, there are the unrealistic expectation about how the world works. Most people do not measure personal worth by one's ranking on the tennis circuit, but by an array of factors....... |
