"Highest I ever got was about 7.5." In University chemistry class in Flint, Michigan in the '60's we tested the tap water and it had a PH of about 10.5! Several of us re-tested the results because we couldn't believe it could be that high. No wonder the stuff smelled and tasted bad - but we still survived - and no need for Tums.
