Supporting subsidizing seniors or the indigent is not socializing medicine. First, because it leaves most of the health care delivery system in the market; second, because it generally pays private practitioners for service, rather than controlling production.

And school vouchers are not "more socialism". At worst it would be a draw, since we already have a system of public education to which virtually anyone is entitled. But, of course, it increases the "marketization" of services, by promoting the increase of schools and more competition among schools, including between public and private schools.
