I don't pay much attention to the God stories, TP. Here's my theory:

Astronomers date the origin of the universe at somewhere in the vicinity of 12.5 billion years ago. The universe is expanding at a rate estimated at 100 million miles per hour in all directions. The most distant galaxy that has been measured is put at 56 million light years from earth. (As I write; further when I "submit" <gg>).

The way I see it, there was nothing, say, 12.6 billion years ago. Nada, zilch, not even time itself. There was no such thing as time 12.6 billion years ago. No space either. Then there was a big bang. REALLY big bang. Time started. Space started. In the first micro-second, the entire universe was no bigger than a tennis ball. All the "matter" was crunched up in there. Then a volley ball. Then a Goodyear blimp. Every star and galaxy was in there. Now it's at least 56 million light years in diameter (radius?) and still growing fast. As to space, we are making that up as we go. Every moment there is more space than there was the moment before.

You say it's all randomness and chaos. Hey, s--t happens.

TP, I have a problem with that! I just can't see how that damn thing happened. I can't see where it's going, either. I can't see where all that matter came from. I can't understand how time just started on its own. I can't compute what was there before there was space. I'm telling you, the whole damn thing blows my mind.

I personally suspect there was someone behind it all. I can't name names, but I don't think this thing was any accident. I think it was deliberately set off. And I think whoever did it had a motive. Call me paranoid if you want.

But anyway, that's why I believe in God.

JC
