"If a processor (or half processor with hyperthreading)
has logically all these attributes (APIC address and
tables), it will be treated by OS as independent processor.
Effectivenes of this is a different matter.
Hope this helps"

Thanks for your explanation. I downloaded the P4DC6 motherboard manual (used in the infoworld article) and searched for the MultiProcessors settings. All I could find is the following (page 70 of supermicro.com ):
_____________________________
MPS Version Control for OS
Set this option to "Enable" to activate the version of MPS control for the OS.
The settings are "1.1" and "1.4".

_____________________________

So, if this option is Disabled, is hyperthreading also Disabled?

Mike

PS. While I'm at it, thanks also for your 'scoops' particularly the one concerning electron migration (or something similar) inside P4s. Despite being over my head, I followed the general idea with much interest.
