Technically, you are correct. Methanex produces a precursor to MTBE.

But I find your comment to be at best disingenuous and at worst an example of transparent sophistry. For it doesn't take a genius to wander back upstream in this thread to read that Methanex is suing (based on NAFTA's Chapter 11) the State of California for $1 Billion because the state wants to eliminate MTBE from California's gasoline formulations.

Methanex has a keen interest in MTBE.
