If there are no specific BIOS switch to enable/disable
hyperthreading explicitly, this is really a matter of 1
versus 4, so your concerns are valid


Even if there was a specific BIOS switch to disable hyperthreading the concerns would be valid because we have no idea how much "hyperthreading" was enabled in the old core. Just because the actual thread switching part was disabled does not mean that there were no hyperthreading-related optimisations that were enabled in the Northwood core. These could be disabled when you disable "hyperthreading", resulting in a non-HT Prestonia performing worse than a Northwood.
