I'm surprised somebody like WCOM or Verio did not pick them up.

What do you think the future for broadband deploymenet will be now that Tauzin-Dingell made it past the house?

I get the feeling it is more and more consolidation and less and less competition. I think when I signed up for ATHM it was $39/month and I thought that was too much. The guys at ATHM said they hoped it would eventually go down to zero with ad support. Although expensive, I hung in there because technology & competition would surely bring the price down. Here is my latest attbi bill:

$45.95 ATTB INTERNET MONTHLY
$4.95 ATTB INTERNET MONTHLY IP
$2.68 FRANCHISE FEE
$3.82 CITY UTILITY TAX
$-57.40 CREDIT CARD PAYMENT

Instead of a decrease, it is about a 43% increase.

I get the feeling that Fritz Hollings (D-S.C.)& John McCain (Ariz.) have got it right in saying it will kill what little is left of the competition. Maybe the FCC regulation changes will make a difference?
