If you subscribe to AOL, you can go to keyword AAII and download the data directly in Lotus format. Look for the reference library.

Re. neutral respondents to surveys: I computed some correlation functions for the change in market price some weeks after the survey, using 10 years of AAII data, and I found that the market price actually showed better correlation with the % neutrals than with the % bears. So you are right to be interested in them. However, the anti-correlation with the % bulls was the strongest of the three. That's why in the effort to find a simple metric, I focus on the % bulls.
