But the worst of all scenarios is children with uninvolved parents going to lousy schools. Many kids with messed up families have, nevertheless, overcome. However, today's public schools are churning out illiterate graduates en masse. These kids have little chance for any kind of successful life

I was a major stoner in HS, with no parental oversight at all. I went to a very good school with tough administrators and some really good teachers. Students with discipline problems were handled firmly, and students who did not work failed. Teachers were not afraid to fail students, and the self-esteem agenda had not taken root. Were it not for the good high school I attended, I certainly never would have attended college.

The NEA and the Dems complain that vouchers will not help the troubled schools. However, these schools have utterly failed. The NEA has failed. More of the same is not the answer. More money to the same failed system is not the answer.
