CHINA, Feb 28, 2002 (AsiaPort via COMTEX) -- At present China Unicom has launched CDMA 1X commercial testing network in 7 cities of China. It's reported that the CDMA 1X commercial testing of China Unicom is hopeful to be finished ahead. Insiders point that CDMA network can possess the true competitive capacity to contend with GSM network only after having finished CDMA 1X.

At the same time many manufacturers are actively assorting with China Unicom to actualize CDMA 1X commercial testing, such as ZTE, Huawei, Shanghai Bell, Nortel Network, Motorola and Ericsson. Insiders point that CDMA 1X has been the roll booster for domestic wireless communications industry to realize technical leap and overtake world leading level.
