COM DEV International Q1 Isn't Pretty -- To make matters confusing for investors, one analyst has hiked his rating to 'outperform' with a target price of C$4.25, another has dropped his rating from 'buy' to 'hold' and lowered his price target from C$5 to C$3

Excerpt:Wireless analyst Rob Millham at Research Capital doesn't agree with Sharma's thesis on COM DEV International. This morning, he dropped his rating on the stock from a 'Buy' to a 'Hold' and cut his 12-month price target from C$5 to C$3.

"Although we feel the Space division alone justifies the current share price, we fear COM DEV may be going down another failed path in diversifying its business."

He said although the company's 3G venture with SK Telecom may ultimately be a positive step, it's going to cost COM DEV a lot of money to make it work.

"Is that market worth betting over C$60 million, which is approximately what will have to be be spent on M/ERGY by the end of this year to address this opportunity? Even if the company can achieve a net margin of 15%, it will need C$400 million in sales just to recoup its investment, disregarding the time value and opportunity cost."

I guess some analysts don't get excited about CDMA 2000 1xEV-DO. DPR
