In a sexual harassment law suit, a plaintiff can offer a defendant's pattern of behavior as evidence. This federal discovery rule was championed by liberal women's groups and is particularly important in workplace sexual harassment complaints. Bill Clinton signed the legislation which enacted these rules. Paula Jones' lawyers were trying to show a pattern of behavior when Clinton obstructed justice.
