EMC buying strategy:
Last August-September, I bought EMC LEAPs (04C20), in increments, with the stock from 16 on down. In the current dip, I began adding to my position, when the stock hit 15, and on down. I now have more than I want (about 8% of my portfolio). It looks to me like the stock is forming a double bottom, in the 10-11 area. stockcharts.com[h,a]dahlnyay[dc][pb50!b200!f][vc60]&pref=G Of course, we have to have a rebound, to confirm the double bottom. WE could still go on to lower lows. But I'm betting not much lower than we are now.
At some point, we will have a rally. I'll sell my higher-cost lots, in increments, beginning when the stock hits 15. It looks to me like EMC is weathering this industry downturn worse than NTAP. So, I'll be fairly aggressive in selling my EMC LEAPs on rallies, while holding onto all my NTAP LEAPs. Probably, by the time we hit the 18-21 area, I'll have sold about half of what I now hold. The 20-22 area looks like strong resistance. |
