My response was the opposite of a non sequitur. Point by point, I refuted every allegation you made.

It's a major scandal because management tried to pay off politicians for favors that enhanced their business. Sometimes those payoffs worked (like when Clinton granted SEC waivers for them and guaranteed some of their debt) and sometimes they didn't (like when Bush refused to provide illegal help with their debt rating).

But Enron is not about how big business screws the worker. Quite the opposite, as they match 401 contributions 100% and compensated their employees very well.

One last point. I said it depends on how you define "pal". Personally, I really don't know how close they were. Doesn't appear that they were buddies though.
