Petz, re: "AMD is long overdue in releasing it's definition of how QS is derived. I would like to know exactly what benchmark suite is used now, even if it is subject to annual revision."

Try this for some answers to your questions on the method:
athlonxp.amd.com

More recent benchmark results for XP2000+ it is clearly compared to a P4-2GHz:
athlonxp.amd.com

I also found this: Mobile Athlon 1500+ Model Number Support
amd.com

Has some interesting power consumption information: while playing a DVD a 1.1GHz Mobile Athlon uses about 4W with PowerNow on and 14W w/out PowerNow.
