But they pretend to greater lucidity, when, in fact, they are chock full of paradoxes, muddy concepts, and fudging. LOL!!! Have you read the Bible lately? "paradoxes, muddy concepts, and fudging" should be the name of that book.
there is a fully actualized Being And suppose there is. You're still left with the problem of determining WHICH God we're talking about? Allah? Yahweh? Quetzalcoatl? Zeus? Krishna?
Take the Great Monkey Thesis: You take it. As the underpinnings of life become more and more elucidated, evolution becomes more and more plausible.
The fallacy is that the random distribution of elements is merely accomplished through juxtaposition, and incidentally patterns that appear meaningful arise. But in the real world of complexity, random juxtaposition will not suffice. The systems have to be ordered in such a matter as to function together, and in succession, within given parameters. Translate that into English.
Your little tale of the mitochondrian does not bring us from asexual reproduction to sexual reproduction. Ah, but even bacterium are known to exchange genetic material. That's basically sexual reproduction. They're good at it too.
The problem here isn't so much how as why? Why would an organism go to all that trouble instead of essentially just cloning itself? The answer appears to be that higher organism are favored targets of simpler parasites that intend to take advantage of the rich environment a complex organism provides. Genetic variability between individuals, provided by sexual reproduction, means the parasites now have a moving target- -they cannot simply adapt to a single set od biological conditions and then exploit it.
In other words, there is a level of complexity that must be achieved to pass on complexity. That test is passed at the bacterial level. Probably viral too. |
