My favorite was the animation.
Killed from the mother site but some versions are still available:

sims.berkeley.edu

Go half way down the page to the animation link. Not nearly as good as the original done by MSFT that even showed them in different planes but still fun.

I think you are the best man for this question:

2 years ago when the fed did the tight money campaign most of the telcom semis were destroyed as the network guys saw all their projects cancelled in mid flight.

Some telcom industry analysts say the buildout was just getting under way and that even the long haul was not overdone except in the DC to NYC corridor. Metro, of course, was hardly started. Others say there was considerable buildup of dark fiber.

My question is what happens as we go forward.

I assume it is safe to say that the guys like JDSU, AMCC, PMCS and BRCM will get considerable growth as we light some of the dark fiber, right?

The bigger question is will we get increased spending the other areas of the network industry helping NT, GLW, LU, etc. Some people feel the baby bells & cable guys will light what is in the ground but just sit on future plans because of debt. They can get by by simply letting bandwidth constrict because there is not much competition.

Where do you think the big growth is going to be this year in broadband?

Damn, a great rally today and ATHM hardly moved.
I hope this isn't bad news.
