how a christian is to attend to issues concerning a brother that might behave in a disordly fashion, to say the least.
After taking the first step, which is to go to him privately, and to no avail, and after that to have other brothers also go to him, but still to no avail, And the individual then becomes even more disorderly with rantings and ravings and speaking lies that are not the word of God, it is a fairly good indication that we are not dealing with a true brother.
However.............
We were also warned about false brothers by even our Lord Jesus Himself. They come wearing sheeps clothing,(talking the things of Christ, well rehearsed in the word of God, but inwardly they are "ravening wolves".The Messisah said, we shall know them by their fruits.
We are told very clearly that there are false brothers calling themselves apostles or disciples of Christ who work themselves into the christian church (not necessarily a building,bu within circles of christians), and set up there pulpit so to speak. And we are even told not to be surprised at this because even satan himself is disguised to many as an angel of light, so even his ministers are disguised as ministers of righteousness.
We are also told that sweet and bitter water cannot come from the same fountain.
These are the words of Paul:
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
And finally we are told:
If any man teach otherwise,(other than the peace of the gospel and the good news of Jesus The Christ) and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
As to what you say concerning that following this did not work Think about how it has. To those who have eyes to see, and ears to hear the truth is known. A person who rails and strives in bitterness and hate with others destroys his own credibility.
In any case Hal, God is in control,and His love and grace will prevail in the hearts of those who know the truth of Yeshua the Messiah, and all who will yet come to know that truth.
Rom 10:13-15
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
