Albert Re...still unless I am reading it wrong it sounds like 2.8GHz chip that is equivalent to 3.4GHz p4. Which is the same as model number 3400+ and I find it hard time to believe that athlon would get to 3400+ by the end of the year. Sounds like they are talking about clawhammer.<<<<<<<<<<<

I agree; that is what it sounds like. That is also how I originally read it; but I really didn't focus on it. But how about a little bet. My guess is that JC or someone else will clarify this. The winner gets to say "Nah, nah, I told you so." and the loser has to kiss up to Monica for a wk. and agree with her on every post, no matter how distasteful it is.

ps it also sounds that 2.8Ghz number was derived from 3.4GHz equivalent or 3400+ rather than been actually disclosed.

AMD has been very secretive about the frequency of Hammer; so I doubt if they got that figure from AMD. And I doubt if Joseph would have just guessed without some sort of hint. It could very well be that we won't know the frequency of Hammer, even after its debut. My guess is that AMD will market Hammer like IBM markets the big iron chips, on performance rather than ghz.
