Paul: Come on now. You know I meant I never heard of him other
than from what you've been saying. That was the first I've heard
of him in the press. You've been following this company a lot
longer than I have and seem to know all the people involved with it.
I do not - yet. But you've given me something to look out for and
I'll be watching more closely from now on. This company doesn't seem
to be very concerned about the shareholders: they need to get the
word out as to what their true position is and how they are addressing
their problems. If they do intend to turn this company around, they
have to do more than sit in their ivory towers and watch the world go
by: they need to convince the investors that they have a long-term
sensible business plan. Some of the problems are beyond AMD's control,
such as the glut of memory, but just throwing up their hands and
saying they can't do anything about it--not very professional. Most
of what I "think" I know about this company is what I've been reading
from the "independent" analysts. Quite a few of them seem to think
that AMD has a good long-term outlook but, as with any opinion, they
could all be dead wrong and so could I and just maybe so could you.
Regardless of all that, the company does owe it to its investors to at
least level with them as to the prospects for both the near and long
term outlooks. If the company is wasting money when it can ill afford
to, then the company also needs to address that. When they spend a
pile of money, they need to convince the investors and the lenders that
the money is going to a good cause. We agree on that much: they have
not been doing that.
