These are the extreme poles, the VAST majority lie much more in the middle and provide ballast.

As the rest of the world watches the struggle between the theocratic fascists of the Jihad and moralizing hypocritical and criminal Christian Fundamentalist Crusaders, all we can do is scratch our heads and ask, whatever happened to the Enlightenment?

the fact that this pantheon of "financial innovation" was nothing more than a criminal shell game.

The economy as a whole as been bubble-ized in Whammo fashion. Since 98' or there abouts this whole thing has been Greenie/Rubin/Mattel monetary chicanery. How much has residential real estate been blown up by the wealth transfer machine of WS? Wages, rents, costs of all sorts get distorted. I liked a previous post of yours in which you spoke of things of REAL economic value. Work, natural resources, properly priced capital. Throw in innovation so long as it leads to REAL productivity for workers.

IMO, our present economic situation has far more to do with these things (for that matter, so did "the Clinton Economy") that who was pulling strings in Washington. Strings tighten and loosen the shoe, but they are not the shoe.
