There is guys called "Patel" that either own, or at a top of great swathes of modern business. It's almost time so start whining about how the White Caucasian Male "minority" need to have some "afirmative action" groups -ggg-

Our local corner store is owned by an Indian of course. Goes by the name of "Steve" with a broad Scottish accent and is open when all other shops are closed. Christmas day, New Years, Sundays etc and usually till 10 pm. Takes his days off when everyone else is working and spends hours para gliding around the local hills. Sensible guy, well apart from the para gliding bit. His prices are usually the cheapest but he makes plenty of dough.

Same with the local bus company. Run by WCM's though. The most advanced bus technology available, brand new, frequent schedule, low fares, spotlessly clean. The drivers always seem bright and cheerful.

Just goes to show you can run an efficient business and make a healthy profit.

As far as India is concerned. They have a huge population. Not sure what the best solution to their problems is. This country went through an agriculture and industrial revolution a couple of hundred years ago. That was painful enough, not sure how things would go for India. There are signs already..

OK I am not a fan of Arundhati Roy, but some of the stuff she writes is worth reading. This almost comes straight out of a British history book on our Agriculture and Industrial revolutions...

In effect, India's rural economy, which supports 700 million people, is being garroted. Farmers who produce too much are in distress, farmers who produce too little are in distress and landless agricultural laborers are out of work as big estates and farms lay off their workers. They're all flocking to the cities in search of employment.

That problem needs special handling imho. 700 million unhappy campers equals one large problem.
