Wind River reports wider fourth quarter loss
ALAMEDA, Calif., Feb 21 (Reuters) - Wind River Systems Inc. (NasdaqNM:WIND - news), which provides software for a range of networks and other machinery, on Thursday posted a wider fourth-quarter loss and projected a 10 percent gain in revenues in the current fiscal year assuming economic conditions remained flat.

The company posted a net los for the quarter ended Jan. 31 of $50 million, or 64 cents per share, compared with an net loss of $10.6 million, or 14 cents per share, in the year earlier.

Revenues were $80.5 million, up slightly from $80.1 million, but down 38 percent from the year-earlier period.

The company said its ``baseline'' revenue forecast for 2003 was for revenue of $385 million, up 10 percent from the year just ended.

For the current quarter, the company said revenues would be flat to down 5 percent from the fourth quarter, with a pro forma loss of between 2 and 4 cents per share.
