Unfortunately, they are not wearing their thongs in this picture as the weather was quite chilly that day, but usually they can be seen in colorful, quite alluring Russian thongs. I'm surprised you, film maven extraordinaire, haven't seen them in the famous Cecil B. DeMille 1920's film, The Volga Boatman, starring William Boyd, in which William wears an attractive beige-toned suede thong, the symbolic representation of the earth, and also, though secondarily, the donkey-toned representation of the boatmen as human mules.
