Sam, I don't know the answers to those questions, and I suspect that it's not something that they are going to easily volunteer.

One of the reasons why @Home needs cash is because they HAVE spent quite a bit of money on an inrastructure that they *don't* really need at this point. However, doing so gives them greater assurance of being able to handle the load when more customers come on board.

The only one of the competitors that I know anything about is TWX, and then only locally in San Diego. My understanding is that their total bandwidth to the net out of San Diego is 4.5Mbit/sec (3 T-1 lines). A recent article referred to San Diego Roadrunner customers getting "14.4 performance". @Home currently has 45Mbit/sec (1 T-3) out of San Diego. They had 10Mbit/sec during beta testing.
