This kind of market can put you through a lot of hoops - there is more random volatility and economic uncertainty than I can remember in the past five years. For a portfolio player, the main frustration is how few stocks are making net progress instead of just thrashing around.

Fortunately I have never had an urge to gamble. But this market is pretty crappy for anyone not just scalping every short-term move.

Wall Street really screwed up by reinflating the tech bubble last November-December. Now no one knows wtf is going on; if they had just nibbled on the techs and kept the Naz under 2000 we could have had a smooth spring recovery rally instead of this chop.
