RE:"Because months ago, the main argument was that Intel was holding back on DDR and force feeding RDRAM to the industry. The Intel bashers all lined up to take cheap shots at the notion that Intel would be far behind AMD in offering DDR in the mobile space. Paul has actually called this one 100% correct"

This is incorrect. If I recall, Intel was obligated to stick with RAMBUS plus it took at least 6 months to develop a DDR/SDRAM chipset for the P4.
DDR hasn't done much in mobile space because the OEMs go "cheap" when they are scared...

Intel held back because of previous commitments to RAMBUS.
Now if you dissect just why Intel committed to RAMBUS you might find a little "corner the market" strategy in there that backfired. Intel loves to change the standard and burn the room on the way out. This time it didn't work but Intel has recovered nicely and the industry seems to have forgot that Intel tried to force them to RAMBUS. Just shows you how Intel controls things.
Most P4s at retail are DDR now. Meanwhile AMD is still showing pathetic at retail...You almost have to BIY or order one. AMD cannot get out from under the coat tails of Intel. For AMD to do well, Intel and the perception of the PC market have to be good. AMD seems to be inable to do well on their own...
