It's pretty tough to debate quality of life differences. Too inherently subjective. (As was evidenced by your exchange with Peter.)

I find it shockingly exclusionary that you see this planet as a support system for humans regardless of the cost to other living species. I agree, the Dutch have a pretty good situation. And the Japanese might as well. I've seen land logged by Mitsubishi, however. I've seen high plateaus changed by the crossings of roads carved by Japanese built diesel trucks. The external costs exacted to maintain what you might refer to as a civilized lifestyle are ignored foolishly.

Humans aren't the only species on Earth. We just act like it.
