Yes, we most definitely ought to spend the next year or two studying our navels rather than bolstering our defenses.

Then, after the next terrorist attack, we can spend the following year studying and questioning what we were doing during the time leading up to it, when we should have been bolstering our defenses. And on, and on, and on, until we're gone.

Only one CIA operative in Afghanistan prior to 911? Well, after three attacks by OBL against the US during the Clinton administration, you wouldn't have wanted Clinton to spend the extra money to hire another one, would you? It would have looked like we were singling out the Taliban, and that would have been politically incorrect, now wouldn't it?

Spending more than the rest of the world on defense? Good. Think about it. If we were the ONLY ones spending money on defense, we could spend a lot less, couldn't we? I'd rather see us have ALL the weapons.
