g.w. barnard & !Kung,

The State of Wisconsin Investment Board has historically been one of the more faithful institutional supporters of biotech, making excellent returns in several bio stocks. I don't believe their website has a current listing of specific investments, but here it is:

badger.state.wi.us

As for the Form 144's in May, could you guys be more specific? I've only come up with one for 85,000 shares in April and I'm wondering how bad my source is.

IMO it's interesting to note, however, that the 1996 proxy statement indicates an April-May 1997 window for exercise of incentive plan stock options by officers and directors. These options probably are exercisable for restricted shares. IMO, however, the current selling isn't due to insiders, I'm sure they must be blacked-out right now.

That leaves shorts, or one or more of the smaller institutional holders. IMHO, State of Wisconsin, Capital Group and Wellington all have too large of a stake to be blowing it out like that. It will be interesting to see what transpires this week...

BTW, welcome to the thread, G.W.
